Our Story in Greater Salt Lake
Serving our community since 1986, we provide a "hand up, not a handout." Our zero-interest or low-interest mortgages ensure that the cost of homeownership remains significantly lower than local market rents. Habitat homeowners "pay it forward," as their monthly payments are reinvested into the Fund for Humanity to build homes for future neighbors.
In 2009, we opened the Salt Lake ReStore, sustaining our operations while keeping building materials out of landfills. By 2012, we expanded our mission with CHiRP, addressing sub-standard housing conditions to keep long-time residents safe and healthy.
A Global Mission
We are a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Founded in 1976, this global movement has helped more than 59 million people improve their living conditions in over 70 countries.
Our Non-proselytizing Policy
Our doors are open to all. We do not offer assistance on the condition that people must adhere to or convert to a particular faith. We welcome everyone who wants to help build a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
